Last week we explored an external and literal storm that the disciples and Jesus faced together. This week, we see Jesus interact with a man facing an intense internal storm. Specifically, he is possessed by thousands of demons who cause harm to both the man and his community. Jesus sets the man free, and rather than inviting him as a follower sends him out to tell his story to the surrounding towns and villages. Over time, a community which was at first against Jesus and his ministry becomes open, and it’s all thanks to one man’s story. We all have a story about all that Jesus has done for us. And our stories, just like that of the demon-possessed man in Luke 9, are powerful.
