The Hit TV series “Survivor” was derived from the Swedish TV series “Expedition Robinson” originally created in 1997 by Charlie Parsons. The series premiered in the US on May 31, 2000 in CBS. 

The premise is this: contestants are isolated in the wilderness (Fiji, Borneo, etc.) and compete for cash and other prizes. Individuals are “voted off the island” until one winner remains.

Surviving 2015 is not as easy as a reality TV show. The world seems to be shaking, under attacks from Isis, global financial insecurity and the constant threats of terrorism and nuclear war. Ouch! How do we survive?

The Epistle of James, set in very similar uncertain times, gives us some life-direction. Our next sermon series will give us biblical tools to survive in our modern world.
