How A Healthy Church Family Handles Conflict

Matthew 18:15-20

Pastor Doug Glynn

Here at HOPE, our greatest desire is to be a healthy family. While that sounds lovely, the reality is building a healthy family is hard work. And nowhere is that hard work felt more than in handling conflict. But conflict isn’t inherently bad. In fact, in Matthew 18:15-20 Jesus makes it clear that handling conflict is one step in the process of reconciliation. Thus, if we desire to be a healthy family, it is essential to handle conflict in a way that works toward restored relationships. Unresolved breakdowns in relationships are opportunities to proactively approach our brothers and sisters to mend the relational bonds that have been broken and perhaps even build a relationship that is stronger and more resilient than the one that existed before.
