Joy! -- In Spite of 2020 (Advent Week 3)

December 13, 2020 Speaker: Doug Glynn Series: A Weary World Rejoices

Topic: Advent and Christmas Verse: Luke 2:8–10

Joy, in this world, will always be in spite of something.

Joy must be real, not fake. Real joy is weighty and powerful. Joy DISPLACES the heaviness and weariness of our world because it is stronger; authentic joy is more real.

PRACTICAL WAYS TO EXPERIENCE JOY IN EVERYDAY LIFE

*SLOW DOWN
What will you say ‘no’ to in order to make space for joy?

*PAY ATTENTION
The more attentive I am to what God is doing in the world, the more naturally my response will be joy.

*PRACTICE GRATITUDE
Like joy, gratitude will always be in spite of something.

QUESTIONS BETWEEN YOU & GOD:
What is the thing that is taking up all of the space in your head or heart, the thing that is keeping you from entering into the JOY that is available?

And what would it look like for you to allow the gift of Jesus and all that He brings us to penetrate your heart? What would it look like to ENTER INTO JOY, and allow it to displace your fear? Your anxiety? Your anger?

How will you SLOW DOWN, PAY ATTENTION, and PRACTICE GRATITUDE this week, and this Christmas season?
