It's Better That Jesus Goes Away? // Luke: Jesus For Everyone // Luke 24:44-53, Acts 1:4-8 // Doug Glynn // 04.26.26

This week we approach the last pivotal moment of the story of Easter.  The ascension of Jesus becomes the catalyst for the work and person of the Holy Spirit then and now in our own lives.  We imagined what it might have been like for the disciples, who had changed their whole lives to follow Jesus, to hear the news that he would be leaving them. In the gospels and in the book of Acts we piece together a picture of a promise of greater things that Jesus kept pointing them towards. A promise that had been part of the plan from the very beginning of his time with them. A gift that would change everything about their ministry moving forward. A gift that empowers us to partner with God and with one another in community to do things beyond our imagination to bring about his kingdom here on earth.
