Peace Be With You // Luke: Jesus for Everyone // Luke 24:36-43, Ezk 27:36, Is 9:6// Bri Johns // 04.19.26
In Luke 24, Jesus appears to His terrified disciples not as a ghost, but as a physical reality who eats fish and shows His scars to prove the resurrection. He greets them with the declaration, "Peace be with you," which is more than a wish; it is the fulfillment of God’s ancient "Covenant of Peace."(Ezekial 27:36) This peace (eirēnē) signifies total wholeness and restoration, proving that even when external circumstances are dangerous, internal restoration is present. Because Christ lives within us, peace is not something we must find in external escapes like hobbies or money, but something we already possess. Just as the body surrenders in sleep, we are called to surrender our need for control and trust that Jesus is in the room with us.
