As we approach Good Friday and Easter Sunday we continue to think about Jesus and his journey to
the cross. The message on Palm Sunday put us right in the heart of Jerusalem as the story continues
to unfold. Jesus fulfilled the prophecy in Zechariah 9:9 of a triumphal entry into the city seated on a
donkey’s colt. We looked closely at the responses of those who witnessed it. The disciples had big
dreams for the ministry that was starting to take shape. The Pharisees were threatened by the way
that ministry was gaining momentum. And finally, the crowd was cheering for a King they thought
would save them from Rome. As we look at each group of people close to that event, we have to ask
ourselves hard questions about what it costs to follow Jesus. It cost the disciples their dreams, the
Pharisees their spotlight, and the crowd, their expectations of who Jesus was.
