Pastor Jason shared from Exodus 17:10-13, where Moses needed help keeping his arms up while the Israelites battled the Amalekites. Aaron and Hur stood by his side, each holding one arm up, so that the Israelites could prevail. Much like Moses throughout Exodus, we too face life’s battles and responsibilities - one thing after another, often with little rest. Yet, instead of receiving support from others, we sometimes rely on ourselves, choosing to go at it alone rather than ask for help. However, this week’s Scripture points us toward humility, leaning on those closest to us to call out our pride and to hold us up with prayer and support. When we close ourselves off to help, or assume God’s help will only come a certain way, we can fall into patterns that wound both us and those we’re meant to serve.
