Everyone is Invited to God's Banquet // Luke: Jesus For Everyone // Luke 14:13-24 // Doug Glynn// 08.10.25

Preacher: Doug Glynn Series: Luke - Jesus for Everyone - Season 2 Topic: Grace, Evangelism, The Kingdom of God Scripture: Luke 14:13–24, Isaiah 25:6– 26:8, Mark 1:15

In Luke 14:15–24, Jesus tells the parable of the Great Banquet—a story that flips expectations about who belongs in God’s Kingdom. In this message, we explore how the “exclusive” religious insiders of Jesus’ day rejected His invitation, making excuses and keeping others from God’s table. Their pride and exclusivity stirred God’s righteous anger, because they were meant to help people draw close to Him, not push them away.

But the heart of God is relentless. In the story, the master sends his servant further and further out to find the outsiders—the poor, the broken, the overlooked—and bring them in until the house is full. That’s still His mission today.

Whether you identify with the servant carrying the invitation, the outsider who never thought they’d be welcome, or even the insider who needs to repent and receive grace, the message is the same: there’s a place for you at God’s table. No earning. No cleaning yourself up first. Just come.
