Preacher: Bri Johns Series: Invitation to Sabbath Scripture: Genesis 1:27–31, Psalm 19:1, Hebrews 4:1

Worship// Invitation to Sabbath // Genesis 1:27-31, Psalm 19:1, Hebrews 4:1// Bri Johns// 05.18.25

Bri centers on Worship for our last stop in our series on the rhythm of Sabbath. In the beginning, we were in full communion with God and with the design of sabbath, but our current post-Eden existence is marked by toil, stress, and disconnection. The Fall distorted our identity, causing us to find worth in productivity rather than inherent being, thus hindering our ability to embrace true rest. To Sabbath is not merely ceasing work but to actively engage in four movements: stopping, resting (soul rest), delighting in God's creation, and ultimately, worshiping as a natural response to experiencing His goodness.

Through experiences of burnout and rediscovering the importance of rest and connection, Bri  emphasizes the necessity of consciously choosing Sabbath to reorient our focus back to God. Just as nature reflects God's glory through its existence, we are also invited to step out of the cycle of striving and anxiety and into a rhythm of Sabbath that brings true rest, delight, and worship, ultimately allowing us to live more fully in the "in-between" space of a post-Eden and pre-eternity world.
