Putting Love Over Politics
Preacher: Doug Glynn Series: Heartbeat of Hope Scripture: Matthew 22:34–40, 1 John 4:18–19
At Hope, we want to be a church where anyone can find and follow Jesus, which means that God’s perfect love, not fear, should guide our actions, particularly during political seasons. In Matthew 22:34-40, Jesus teaches that we must put our faith and our neighbors ahead of politics. Jesus’ focus was on people, not religion and certainly not on the things that divide us, because Jesus came to take over the world, not to take sides.
To properly serve and see others, disarming our fear is essential. We can do so by focusing on God’s perfect love for us and allowing the rest of our lives to be led by that love.
