Worship Is Right Relationships // Isaiah 1:10-17 // Pastor Brandon Hodge

At HOPE, we believe our Big 3 encapsulates God’s desires for us: Love God, Love Others, and Follow Jesus Together. But, how do we love God? As Brandon suggested, we love God by worshiping God. And worship, at its core, is about attributing worth, proclaiming that something is worth-y.

As the Israelites learned, God is not worshiped primarily through songs, or even through obedience to God or God’s law. Rather, as we saw in Isaiah 1 and Isaiah 29, what pleases the heart of God most is for us to be in right relationship with God and God’s creation. This is more than simply a prerequisite to worship, indeed, centering our lives around living in right relationship with God and God’s creation is the worship God longs for. For the person in right relationship with God and God’s creation, everything is worship. But for the person who isn’t, nothing is.
