What is at the heart of the Christian life? For many, we have learned (whether explicitly or not) to please God through good behavior. Do the right stuff so God will love and accept us. Unfortunately this only works until it doesn't. Eventually, we fail, and because we believe failure is abhorrent to God, our shame drives us to hide from God, others, and even ourselves. This Room of Good Intentions can seem like the way to find life, since it is very action oriented and seems to provide a clear path.

But there's another way. Another road, which leads to a life defined by trusting God. In this way, we live out of who God says we are. This is the Room or Grace, where we trust God to love us regardless of our “good behavior” and to help us in and through our sin. In this room, we can be exactly who we are and still find acceptance from our gracious Father.
