When life is confusing and uncertain, we often begin to distance ourselves from God. Even unconsciously we begin to wonder, ‘is the heart of God REALLY good? Can He be trusted?’ The enemy of our soul partners with discouragement, leaving us to feel even more distant from God. But Satan is a liar. As God’s children we have nothing to fear, yet we need to be aware of the reality: there is an enemy in the Story, and he wants to pull your heart away from God.
The temptaion of Jesus in the wilderness (Matthew 4) reveals to us some of the ways the enemy tries to lie and twist the hunger and thirst of our souls against us, and the truth Jesus offers us in the midst of our battles.
