6 QUESTIONS EVERY CHURCH SHOULD ASK
“When To Act?"

Pastor Scott Oas | 11.15.15

WHAT’S THE BIG DEAL WITH TIME?

“Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered—
how fleeting my life is. You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand.
 My entire lifetime is just a moment to you;
at best, each of us is but a breath.” - Psalm 39:4-5 (NLT)

WHAT DOES “REDEEMING THE TIME” MEAN?

“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” - Ephesians 5:15-16 (NKJV)

LIVING WISELY REGARDING YOUR TIME.

A little triad: busyness does not mean I am diligent; busyness does not mean I am faithful; busyness does not mean I am fruitful.

“So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” - Ephesians 5:15-20 (NIV)

GOING DEEPER

SCRIPTURE READING: Ephesians 5:8-9, 15-20

GETTING STARTED

Are you more apt to be early, on time, or late to get somewhere? Why is that?
Do you still wear a watch? If so, how old is it? If not, when was the last time you wore one?

A CLOSER LOOK

Read Psalm 39:4-5.

What is the big deal with time? Why is it such an important value to us? Has its value changed in importance as you’ve grown older? How/ why?

Read Ephesians 5:15-16.

“See to it that you walk circumspectly”... What do you think it means to “walk circumspectly”?

Ephesians 4:1 says, “Walk worthy of the calling with which you were called.” What does it mean, “worthy of the calling”? What does that mean for your life? .

DIGGING DEEPER

If the word “redeem” contains the idea of rescuing from loss, how or when have you seen/ experienced Christ redeem you from a situation of loss?

Ephesians 5:15 - “Be careful how you live.” What are practical implications and priorities for living for Christ according to Ephesians 5:15-20?

What was mentioned here that strikes you as an area of focus for your life in the coming week?
