* Full of faith and of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 6:5)
* Full of God’s grace and power, did great wonders and miraculous signs among the people. (Acts 6:8)
* His face was like that of an angel. (Acts 6:15)

GOING DEEPER

SCRIPTURE READING: Acts 6:1-15

GETTING STARTED

When have you used the phrase “I’m in the middle of something?” What is your state of mind when you say it?

Knowing that we are in the “middle” of living life, are you more apt to focus on the past or the future?

A CLOSER LOOK

Read Acts 6:1-15.

What was the situation that led to choosing the 7 men to serve?

Note the attributes of those who were chosen. By their doing this task, what were the results? (v. 3-4, 7)

Why would waiting on tables require the laying on of the apostles’ hands? (v. 5-6)

DIGGING DEEPER

What tasks in the church have you perhaps seen or felt as minor or less important to the ministry of the church? What might be ways to encourage those serving in these areas?

What insights do you personally derive from the example of Stephen’s life? Of what is mentioned about his attributes which speaks most strongly to you? Why?

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” - Revelation 1:8 (NIV)

How does this promise of God give you confidence and hope for your life?
