UNLEASHING HOPE
“Raise Your Expectations”
Pastor Brandon Hovey | 05.04.14

“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13a

Two Attitudes That Lower Your Expectations:

1. Fear of Failure

2. Choosing the Easier over the Better

Three Attitudes That Raise Your Expectations:

1. Believe Impossible Things are Possible

“Everything is possible for him who believes... I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father.” Mark 9:23; John 14:12

Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd, they made an opening in the roof by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralyzed man, “Son, your sins are forgiven... I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home.” He got up, took his mat and walked our in full view of them all. This amazed everyone and they praised God saying, “We have never seen anything like this!”
Mark 2:4-5; 11-12

2. Believe Better Days are Ahead

“Where there is faith in the future, there is no power in the present.”

“We live upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope - the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.”                                                                      Titus 2:12-13

3. Make God your Ultimate Hope

“I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”                                                                      Phillippians 1:20-21

“I consider everything a loss compared of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage that I may gain Christ.”                                               Phillippians 3:8
