WHAT IS A CHRISTIAN?

“Loophole Christians”

Pastor Duane Cross| 09.23.2012

“Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked,”Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!” Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? For God said, “Honor you father and mother and ‘anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’ But you say that if a man says to father or mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is a gift devoted to God,’ he is not to ‘honor his father’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. You hypocrites!” (Matthew 15:1-7)

“A new command I give you! Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. All men will know you are my disciples if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35))

“Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellow man has fulfilled the law.” (Romans 13:8)

“The commandments, ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not covet,’ and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Romans 13:9-10)

“What does love require of me?”
