Join us Wednesday, May 21 from 7-8p at Hope for a special Taize worship service. In 1940 a small monastic community began to take root in the community of Taize, France. Today, there are more than 100 brothers from around the globe with Protestant and Catholic traditions who gather daily for prayer, bible study, sharing and communal work. More than 100,000 people annually, make the pilgrimage to share in this experience and live in a spirit of kindness, simplicty and reconciliation. Because people gather from around the world, their times of worship are meant to embody a wide scope of traditions. Simple songs based on Psalms and pieces of scripture are chanted as repetitious prayers in a variety of languages.
In this comtemplative worship experience we have the opportunity to encounter the mystery of God and be united through individual prayers as well as common prayers that are sung together.
