2015 1Mission Mexico Trip

WHEN? November 19 – November 22. We will meet at Hope Covenant Church on Noon on Thursday, November 19. From there we will pile into large vans and drive to Rocky Point. We plan on arriving back to Hope at 5:00pm on Sunday, November 22.

WHAT? The chance of a lifetime—we will be spending 3-days in Puerto Penasco (aka Rocky Point), building a home for a family that has already served 200 hours on community service projects. No building experience is required; there is something for everyone. The destination is about 4 hours away, and is safe and secure. We will be working partnering with a fantastic Christian non-profit organization, called 1Mission. To learn more about them and watch videos of the building process go to 1mission.org. Here is our schedule:

Thursday (11/19): Drive to Rocky Point, settle in at the 1Mission Base Camp, eat dinner out at a local restaurant, and after a short campfire devotional, relax for the evening.

1528726_618901744866054_370581536_nFriday (11/20): Eat breakfast, pack a sack lunch, drive to our job site, and meet the family we will be building for. Then, mix concrete, pour slab and frame walls. Eat dinner at Base Camp with the locals, group devotions, and then enjoy free time.

Saturday (11/21): Eat breakfast, go to the job site to erect walls/roof, tar and chicken wire house, and complete the first coat of stucco on the exterior walls. In the evening there will be a Fiesta Night, with free time following.

Sunday (11/22): Sleep in, then eat breakfast, and go to the job site to add second coat of stucco and clean up. Finally, the best part, we will have a dedication ceremony with the family, where we will present them with their keys. Finally, we will say goodbye, eat lunch as Base Camp and head back to Chandler, arriving around 5pm.

HOW MUCH? The cost for transportation (we a renting 15-passanger van + gas), medical insurance, lodging, meals, and building supplies for the house is $300 per person. A limited number of partial scholarships will be available. A $100 non-refundable deposit is due ASAP, no later than November 15. Also you will need a valid passport. If you do not have one, this needs to be ordered as soon as possible. To learn more go to: http://goo.gl/zraxTj
